Entry #2

Hey everyone! Welcome to day two of my journey, wow progress! Only 19 more days to go. Today was a good day, felt strong mentally and also had a great time painting. I rediscovered some artists, I will be writing about that as well.

Plant in a pot.
I had such a great time painting this one. It is a leafy plant in a pot. I did not use any reference photo for this one. Now you can not say that the leaf is too yellow or the pot is too crooked (haha crying on the inside because that is true). I tried to keep the brush stokes more loose on this and I really like the effect that it creates.

This one reminds me of the way Monali Haldipur paints. She is an Indian watercolor artist. Do check her out on Instagram. Monali's brush strokes are so bold and yet controlled. She usually paints plein air.

Another artist you can look up on Instagram is Wendy Artin. She plays with how light interacts with human figures. She is probably the ONLY artist I know who paints without drawing even the most complex structures. I remember texting Wendy once. She was super sweet and definitely helped me out with some doubts. I genuinely urge you to check the two of them out, their work is stunning.

Lotus not in a pond part 2.
I also made another version of the same lotus that I had painted yesterday. I tried being more artistic with this one but the strokes feel forced and lack depth. I do love the background though, it has so much going on. If I were to choose, I would for sure without fail opt the one I painted yesterday.

A fact: I painted this one in 30 minutes, the other took a few hours though. Do you think there is a correlation between the quality of artwork and the number of hours you spend on it?

I guess today marks the end of my lotus series (it is a only a break guys, don't go nuts okay?)

I have some wonderful news that I would looove to share with you guys. When I was young, I used to love making sculptures from clay and waste items. I remember being 8 years old and going to a clay modelling competition and crying and winning the first prize. No, they did not give it to me because I was a cry baby. I was genuinely good at it. So today, I ordered some air drying clay. Hopefully I will be making sculptures soon. Fingers crossed!
