Entry #4

Hey everyone! I am back with a new blog. Guess what, I skipped writing these blogs for more than a week I think. So, that 21 days challenge has already failed (lol, I knew this would happen). Anyhoo I made some art yesterday, let us talk about that.

Flowers.
Flowers Part 1.
Yesterday, I had an amazing epiphany. I realised that I own a pot of black ink and a shitty sketchbook which documents my failed triumphs at watercolors. So, I decided to be the knight in shining armor and repaint those horrible, soul sucking pages. Yes, I did use those adjectives and here I will take the liberty of calling them "not artworks".

This is the first one in a series of three renovated pieces. I did not use any reference photo for this. The flowers and the leaves came pretty naturally to me. I really like how the background (a failed attempt at painting strawberries which was later washed off with 100 litres of water) offers a certain depth and color variation.

Flowers Part 2.
I absolutely loved painting this. It is only a smaller version of the above painting. In the background, I think I was trying to paint a bunch of flowers very loosely. The watercolor silhouette on this one is what I think makes it look so pretty. I know I could have done a much better job with the ink work on this one. I still like it though.

I also added a bee and a butterfly to make it quirky. The bee didn't turn out so well, so I did crop it out :P. I feel like this one had more potential. I could have added more depth to it by adding more flowers and leaves. The shading in the bottom part also looks rushed, which it was to be honest.

Flower Pot with no Flowers.
This one here required the least amount of efforts. The watercolor work on this was pretty decent. I really liked the light and shadows on it. However
, I did feel that it required more depth. I used ink to add those black shadows around the rim and base of the pots. I also used water diluted ink to add shadow to suggest backdrop of a wall and the floor beneath the pots. Even though this required least efforts, it still is my favourite piece.

Let me know in the comments section what you think about these "not artworks". Do you also feel inspired to rework the shitty pages of your sketchbook?
