Hey everyone! I am back with a new blog. Guess what, I skipped writing these blogs for more than a week I think. So, that 21 days challenge has already failed (lol, I knew this would happen). Anyhoo I made some art yesterday, let us talk about that. Flowers Part 1. Yesterday, I had an amazing epiphany. I realised that I own a pot of black ink and a shitty sketchbook which documents my failed triumphs at watercolors. So, I decided to be the knight in shining armor and repaint those horrible, soul sucking pages. Yes, I did use those adjectives and here I will take the liberty of calling them "not artworks". This is the first one in a series of three renovated pieces. I did not use any reference photo for this. The flowers and the leaves came pretty naturally to me. I really like how the background (a failed attempt at painting strawberries which was later washed off with 100 litres of water) offers a certain depth and color variation. Flowers Part 2.  I absolutely loved paintin...

Hey guys! Guess what? I messed up. I totally skipped blogging and painting two days in a row. Well I did paint but whatever I created was uninspired and turned out not so good (obviously). Since I did not have any artworks, I decided not to blog. Today was going to the SAME uninspiring day. However, I got myself up and decided to do some human studies. Random Human Body Parts. So this is all the sketching that I did today. I am pretty happy with how most of it turned out. I am absolutely in denial of how out of place that weird shading on the foot looks (haha denied it and accepted it like a pro). But apart from that, the studies look pretty solid. The way I made these is that first I sketched them out with a pencil and then I painted over it with this rustic brown watercolor. All the sketches are references from this book called the Drawing Course by Charles Bargue. It is an absolutely stunningggg book. It breaks down the whole process of drawing a figure into small, simple and easy s...

Hey everyone! Welcome to day two of my journey, wow progress! Only 19 more days to go. Today was a good day, felt strong mentally and also had a great time painting. I rediscovered some artists, I will be writing about that as well. Plant in a pot. I had such a great time painting this one. It is a leafy plant in a pot. I did not use any reference photo for this one. Now you can not say that the leaf is too yellow or the pot is too crooked (haha crying on the inside because that is true). I tried to keep the brush stokes more loose on this and I really like the effect that it creates. This one reminds me of the way Monali Haldipur paints. She is an Indian watercolor artist. Do check her out on Instagram. Monali's brush strokes are so bold and yet controlled. She usually paints plein air. Another artist you can look up on Instagram is Wendy Artin. She plays with how light interacts with human figures. She is probably the ONLY artist I know who paints without drawing even the most co...

Hey you! First of all, WOW you found this blog, congratulations. Now that we have established my utter lack of self esteem, welcome to my blog! Today is day one of this blog hence the title entry #1 (genius right?). This is a blog that is all about art. Well of course I will also be blabbering about my own journey with it. Let us hope that this space remains active for at least 21 days. 21 days is usually the number of days it takes for a habit to develop. If you didn't know that already, it is okaaayyyy not everyone wastes their days watching YouTube videos on productivity.  Let's get started, shall we? Teacup with no tea. Now this is something I made a few nights ago around 10:30 pm, took 2 hours to complete. I know it isn't the best study of a teacup. Now we have also established that I am not a good artist, wow that took off a lot of pressure, phew! Anyway I took this reference photo from somewhere on google, didn't save the photo so can not provide the link for it....
